She's a champion of beauty, of course, she's beautiful herself, she made sure to be on last year's Maxim's Hottest. It's not as though she's perfect, but if you asked her she'd say she is, she's flashy, a party girl who likes to be photographed, she's terrible with the long term, and she's got an ego you don't want to bruise.

The times may have changed, but war hasn't and neither has Ares. Adapted is the word for what he's done, finding a way to stay close to the clash of armies now that they've cast aside shining helms and flashing swords. A renowed weapons contractor, Ares is still a spectator, and still wholly uninterested in the outcome of a battle, so long as the battle itself is bloody and destructive. More often than not word of him travels in the form of secondhand accounts of brawls and scuffles, for Ares goes nowhere without a fight of one nature or another, and even among the gods he's more like to throw a punch than settle a dispute with a word. But can he really be blamed? A good battle is so hard to come by these days, he'd say, spinning a bullet casing along the polished surface of his desk, and if a skirmish broke out in one country or another a few days later, well, he'd just say he couldn't help himself.

character: Hera | June Gamous
race: Olympian
roles: The queen of the gods and goddess of marriage, women, childbirth, heirs, kings and empires.
journal:
pb: Viva Bianca
bio: Jealous. Vengeful. Vindictive. Regal. Queenly. Beautiful. Godly. Hera once claimed the title of Queen of the Gods, goddess of childbirth, heirs, kings, women and marriage. She was once the mistress of her own cult, but those who worshipped so dutifully at her alter have died out, leaving her to wallow in her past and adjust to the future. Poorly. As empires became inherited instead of sought, marriage defiled by infidelity, and children borne whilst unwanted, Hera soured, becoming more the bitter, bossy, demanding goddess than she ever was before. She despises being the thing of whispered myths and fables, and longs to one day to truly remind mortals what it is to insult a god. She bides her time trying to cultivate lotus flowers, but they die if she ever forgets about them.

journal:
pb: Brooke Williams
bio: The personification of vegetation, the daughter of the harvest-goddess Demeter, Pesephone was once the brightest of flowers and the sweetest of fruits, until the earth split open and Hades sprang forth to drag her to the underworld. There she ate six pomegranate seeds, which served to tether her to the underworld for six months out of the year - even after she was rescued. Like every flower and fruit in the underworld, rot festered until she was something darkly obsequious whilst underground and subservient to nature whilst above.

bio: While his fanbase may have shrunk, Zeus still carries the ego he developed back when he was large and in charge. He expects people to respect and obey him, and he's still baffled when they don't. He lives large and is always looking for a good time, much to his wife's eternal disapproval. He can be incredibly offensive in just about every way possible. Don't take it personally.
Zeus enjoys rap music, seducing virgins in the form of various animals, watching trash TV, and occasionally smiting people with thunderbolts. Zeus also loves Fun Dip. You can take that in whatever way you want - you're probably right.
TO BE EXPANDED as I work on his current situation.
character: daphne peneia / "laurel palmer"
race: nymph.
roles: river nymph. loved by apollo.
journal:
pb: elisha cuthbert
bio: College student. Daphne has severe trust issues. Ok, to be more specific, they practically border on the point of paranoia, when it comes to dealing with people, friends especially. It can hardly be said to be her fault: after all, the best friend she ever had turned out to be lying to her completely about who they were. On top of this, she's spent the last several months of her life as a tree, which hasn't done all that much to add to her mental stability. This all tends to manifest in a tendency to be very suspicious of people's motives (men in particular, but girls aren't excluded). She's much more careful about letting herself getting close to people now, and she views someone lying to her as an unforgiveable sin.
Like a lot of nymphs, Daphne has a terrible temper, though it can be hard to get her to the point where she chooses to exercise it. Once someone has earned her wrath, however, they're going to find themselves regretting it, and regretting it hard. She can hold a grudge like nobody's business. To go with this, she's insanely stubborn, often past the point of rational or wise action. When she's got her mind set, one would be hard pressed to alter it.
Daphne possesses an enigmatic quality, often the one who sits listening to others at the lunch table, without exactly leading the conversation. Nevertheless, people tend to want to know what she's thinking, just because she's precisely so mysterious, which grants her the interest and popularity that she's accustomed to. Really though, the girl isn't shy or lacking in confidence, she's just literally unaccustomed to talking, given that she hasn't held a conversation in months, and had expected to never be able to do so again. Sometimes she forgets to participate in things, just because she's so used to being a silent observer.
When she does get talking, on the other hand, this girl knows what she wants. She's so determined not to be victimized again, or taken advantage of, that she has no problem telling anyone 'no' or letting her own thoughts on a subject be known. When she finds something to be enthusiastic about, she can get carried away like nobody's business, and she'll make sure everyone knows it.
Her interests tend to be physical, rather than mental: she still loves hunting, archery, and running, and she's expanded into really anything that involves a great deal of movement. She's so thankful to not be locked in the static form a tree, that movement is a cause for celebration to her, which has birthed a great interest in dance within her. It fits her well, as she's naturally graceful, and it allows her to express her conflicting emotions in a healthy manner.
Her experience with Apollo left her a little bit on edge when it comes to the sort of things that are generally associated with him (spending all day at the beach in the sun, poetry units at school, etc.), so she can get very strange about these kinds of activities, occasionally refusing to partake in them altogether.
On a separate note, despite the fact that in her life as a nymph, she was incredibly devout, her experiences have actually left her feeling incredibly embittered towards the gods, and more than a little disenchanted of the divine aura they once held in her eyes. Coupled with the fact that they're all mortal here now, she's bound to present a very different attitude towards them than she ever used to. She feels let down by Artemis (to whom she had been incredibly faithful, and whom she had thought herself well loved by) given that Artemis did nothing to interfere with either Leukippos' trickery, or Apollo's mad pursuit of her. She feels as if Zeus played a horrible trick on her, twisting her words into a punishment that she didn't deserve. And don't get her started on Apollo. In other words, she's put a lot less stock in pleasing the powers that be, and a lot more in the power of the individual.

bio: In a pantheon of impulsive, beautiful gods, a crippled blacksmith does not rank as highly as he could. Unfaltering and faithful, he devotes himself still to the creation and maintenance of the weapons of the gods, and makes a decent sum of money selling more mundane sculptures to mortals. The energy for acts of revenge have long passed him by, leaving him dour and less sociable than the rest of his pantheon. He maintains a neutral relationship with most everyone, content to work and create, inspiring mortals to do the same in turn-- his only stress comes from being drawn into the scuffles of others, and the constant infidelity of Aphrodite.
The modern times have not passed him by, however. Hephaestus continues to learn and craft all manner of newers devices of war and technology, catapulting the rivalries of the gods into the 21st century. Time may pass and many things falter and drift away: not so with a good, hard anvil.

Name: Hale Fallworth
Ganymede's name most often is not whispered, but sung, or more like screeched though he's told it is singing. Bands and ballads claim his name for their own, proclaim him some youthful martyr for their unfulfilled lives in songs that sound like their metal devices crashing to the earth, though he's certain they know not a thing about him or his story. If they did they'd not sing about it. Either way, to keep their screaming from his ears, he more often than not he wears large headphones over his ears when passing through the streets or on the underground.
In this world of theirs he is a waiter. Doing what job he was first given when he plucked from the earth by Zeus, and pours for them wines and liqueurs that are like stagnant water in comparison to the ambrosia of the gods. Yet the restaurant in which he works is considered the top of the mark, the creme de la creme by these mortals so he serves in silence and obedience as if these rooms were the dining halls of the Olympians. Much to his dismay he's almost as popular a servant among mortals as he was among gods, though at least here he is given a due for it.
Always he wears a mask of serene resignation, back straight, eyes forward never meeting anyone else's, the only break is the slight recoil or grimace when he is remarked upon as an object of beauty. When he is not working he wears bulky coats, large sunglasses to hide his eyes and face, and baggy pants to distract from his appearance.
As a whole he takes no stock in the progress or downfall of people. He watches them with a critical eye as weak things, knowing their weakness as one that was once his own. He regards himself as something severed from the body of mankind and what twinges he feels for it are as twinges for a phantom limb.

Summary (does this work?}
The cares of Gods and Man are nothing to Ganymede, boy of the beautiful face that had been plucked as a whim from the earth by Zeus and relegated to the cupbearer for the Olympians. Popular for his youth and nobility, the boy who was once a prince and hunter had become mere decoration and even for some, an object of envy and hate. What then should he care for? He is neither god nor mortal now....

While many Gods lost their followers and their cults, such cannot be said about Hecate. For she is the Queen of Witches and throughout history, though they were burned at the staked and named sinners and whores, witches remained strong and faithful to the Three-Faced-Goddess. This allowed Hecate, now Ella, to keep her strength and her Triple Sight; she knows the past, the present and the future. She sees into dreams and is able to conjure her own. She is linked to both the dead and the living and she knows much of prophecies. She is a midwife, a scholar, a writer of feminist texts and for her representation in his Macbeth? A great lover of Shakespeare.

Everyone knows the story of Snow White, what happens when you're born too beautiful for your own good and enrage the wrong women. Psyche is no different. Aphrodite grew jealous of her beauty and enraged that Eros fell for her. Still, the mortal girl triumphed and became goddess of the Soul by Zeus. Not that Lucia remembers that. She is a make up artist, a former beauty queen and an ordinary girl. Only she dreams; the same dream for years, of a handsome young man whose name or story she does know. Still, she seeks him.

She is also Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the Gods, though she doesn't do the messenger thing as often as Hermes does. She isn't as known as him, which does her some good — she was never that interested in the affairs of the other gods and simply wants to keep a low profile as much as possible. Hence, the school teacher gig. It's a quiet job, helps pays the bills, and doesn't draw the others. She likes being ordinary, and optimistic, because no one will probably be.
And that suits her just fine.
