![]() laura | geekyshoelaces @ plurk All you need is love. Beatles song or not, Aphrodite believes that above all else. Why else would she have taken it upon herself to facilitate so many love matches? Call her nosy if you want, she's into meddling in other people's love lives so much that on earth, she's taken it upon her to start a widely popular dating site and become a professional matchmaker. And while, her love life could be considered a disaster if you look at it a certain way, but she sees it as a triumph. She's taken many lovers over the years, men, women, it hardly matters, does it? Love is fluid, it transcends time, sometimes it lasts centuries and sometimes it lasts seconds. And Aphrodite knows this well. ( more ) |
![]() faith | varooooom @ plurk Known for the prophetic word, the healing artes and the protection of Men from evil, while these things have faded into obscurity and disbelief, superstition and an occult following, there are none that have stopped their worship of the Sun. It burns bright and eternal in the sky above all, and Apollo basks in their recognition as one might bathe in sunlight on a warm summer's day. He delights in his place among humanity, in watching them as they grow (did you know they use his name in their efforts to pioneer a path to the stars? brilliant), but the decline of truth and beauty (have you heard some of the shit they call music these days?) weighs heavily upon him as mankind stumbles blindly towards its own destruction. Even with his weakened powers of foresight, Apollo knows his time of idle joy in life upon Earth is soon to change. |
![]() mi | aokigahara @ plurk The goddess of the hunt, of wild animals and wild places and protector of women, Artemis sees a need for worship more than ever. She invests her time in environmental and women's issues and spends the remainder rolling her eyes at anyone who thinks her brother is hot. An archery enthusiast, she's still quick to shoot men down, earning her a reputation for being "frigid". The 40 Year Old Virgin? Don't make her laugh. Voted most likely to throw a slumber party and have a "No Boys Allowed" sign on her door. |

![]() eppy | eppypeninc @ plurk The times may have changed, but war hasn't and neither has Ares. Adapted is the word for what he's done, finding a way to stay close to the clash of armies now that they've cast aside shining helms and flashing swords. A renowed weapons contractor, Ares is still a spectator, and still wholly uninterested in the outcome of a battle, so long as the battle itself is bloody and destructive. More often than not word of him travels in the form of secondhand accounts of brawls and scuffles, for Ares goes nowhere without a fight of one nature or another, and even among the gods he's more like to throw a punch than settle a dispute with a word. But can he really be blamed? A good battle is so hard to come by these days, he'd say, spinning a bullet casing along the polished surface of his desk, and if a skirmish broke out in one country or another a few days later, well, he'd just say he couldn't help himself. |
![]() rue | inhume @ plurk The Olympian Dionysus personifies the natural beauty of excess. He exists for the night-sky of euphoria and enlightenment through ecstasy: hedonism is the most primal path to self-discovery, or so his Maenads believe, and only by removing selfish inhibition and the shackles of social constraint can a person be his or her true self. Dionysus revels in these leveling acts of impassioned human destruction: his nature is changeable—enigmatic and wild—which makes him a dangerous deity in his own right, although his followers have long since learned that such danger is a necessary part of a fully ripe life. ![]() jonesy | peroxicide @ plurk In a pantheon of impulsive, beautiful gods, a crippled blacksmith does not rank as highly as he could. Unfaltering and faithful, he devotes himself still to the creation and maintenance of the weapons of the gods, and makes a decent sum of money selling more mundane sculptures to mortals. The energy for acts of revenge have long passed him by, leaving him dour and less sociable than the rest of his pantheon. He maintains a neutral relationship with most everyone, content to work and create, inspiring mortals to do the same in turn-- his only stress comes from being drawn into the scuffles of others, and the constant infidelity of Aphrodite. The modern times have not passed him by, however. Hephaestus continues to learn and craft all manner of newers devices of war and technology, catapulting the rivalries of the gods into the 21st century. Time may pass and many things falter and drift away: not so with a good, hard anvil. |
![]() demi | inb4circlejerk @ plurk Jealous. Vengeful. Vindictive. Regal. Queenly. Beautiful. Godly. Hera once claimed the title of Queen of the Gods, goddess of childbirth, heirs, kings, women and marriage. She was once the mistress of her own cult, but those who worshipped so dutifully at her alter have died out, leaving her to wallow in her past and adjust to the future. Poorly. As empires became inherited instead of sought, marriage defiled by infidelity, and children borne whilst unwanted, Hera soured, becoming more the bitter, bossy, demanding goddess than she ever was before. She despises being the thing of whispered myths and fables, and longs to one day to truly remind mortals what it is to insult a god. She bides her time trying to cultivate lotus flowers, but they die if she ever forgets about them. ( more ) |
![]() amber | greyjoy @ plurk Hermes is a god of many things and a jack of many trades. A herdsman and orator, an athlete and scholar, a trickster and messenger, Hermes is best at being in the right place at the right time. He spends his human life gathering wealth and power (through politics and business) and enjoying the pleasures of the world. Of course, Hermes is a thief, not a leader, and someone else usually pays the price for his success. Though he sometimes seems to have stepped out of a play by Oscar Wilde, Hermes' pretensions at old-world gentility do not stop him from devilish hedonism, or from keeping up with the modern times, including the place of messages in the modern world — which is perhaps why he has investments in so many telecommunication companies. ![]() arden | ardendactyl @ plurk While his fanbase may have shrunk, Zeus still carries the ego he developed back when he was large and in charge. He expects people to respect and obey him, and he's still baffled when they don't. He lives large and is always looking for a good time, much to his wife's eternal disapproval. He can be incredibly offensive in just about every way possible. Don't take it personally. Zeus enjoys rap music, seducing virgins in the form of various animals, watching trash TV, and occasionally smiting people with thunderbolts. Zeus also loves Fun Dip. You can take that in whatever way you want - you're probably right. |

![]() cronus ( geld ) amber | greyjoy @ plurk Once upon a time Cronus had might beyond the container of a human form. Though he was the youngest of the Titans born of Earth and Sky, he was the most powerful, and he overthrew his father to rule. When he found that his son was destined to overthrow him in turn, Cronus hid away each deity born to him until his sixth child, Zeus, tricked him into releasing them all and overthrew him, banishing him to Tartarus in the Underworld. These days his power has been severely castrated, and he mostly occupies his time with mind games and plotting to reclaim his throne. |

![]() arden | ardendactyl @ plurk College student. Daphne has severe trust issues. Ok, to be more specific, they practically border on the point of paranoia, when it comes to dealing with people, friends especially. It can hardly be said to be her fault: after all, the best friend she ever had turned out to be lying to her completely about who they were. On top of this, she's spent the last several months of her life as a tree, which hasn't done all that much to add to her mental stability. This all tends to manifest in a tendency to be very suspicious of people's motives (men in particular, but girls aren't excluded). She's much more careful about letting herself getting close to people now, and she views someone lying to her as an unforgiveable sin. ( more ) |

Popular for his youth and nobility, the boy who was once a prince and hunter had become mere decoration and even for some, an object of envy and hate. What then should he care for? He is neither god nor mortal now... ( more ) |
![]() brandi | fantasmic @ plurk Hebe was one of the youngest of the goddesses, the revered spawn of Zeus and Hera, and was the cupbearer to the gods before she was married off to Heracles. Then Ganymede took over for her, and all her glory days were put behind her. There's hardly any bitterness there though. Really, she swears. It's a hard knock life not being the darling favored child anymore, okay. But that's just fine because she could keep being youthful and worshipped for being a goddess of pardons and forgiveness. She had statues and fountains built in her name, and freed prisoners would hang their chains and promises of redemption in her sanctuary in Phlius. These days, Hebe goes by Hadley Young on most occasions and enjoys living it up as a teenage girl that embraces her youth and bounces around the world on her whims. She runs a well-known and popular help column blog online, her specialty focusing on assisting people in seeking and giving forgiveness. |
![]() adi | atothedi @ plurk While many Gods lost their followers and their cults, such cannot be said about Hecate. For she is the Queen of Witches and throughout history, though they were burned at the staked and named sinners and whores, witches remained strong and faithful to the Three-Faced-Goddess. This allowed Hecate, now Ella, to keep her strength and her Triple Sight; she knows the past, the present and the future. She sees into dreams and is able to conjure her own. She is linked to both the dead and the living and she knows much of prophecies. She is a midwife, a scholar, a writer of feminist texts and for her representation in his Macbeth? A great lover of Shakespeare. |
![]() michi | couplet @ plurk Aurora Meadows is your ordinary preschool teacher, who loves working with kids, and enjoying her life as much as she can. She is also Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the Gods, though she doesn't do the messenger thing as often as Hermes does. She isn't as known as him, which does her some good — she was never that interested in the affairs of the other gods and simply wants to keep a low profile as much as possible. Hence, the school teacher gig. It's a quiet job, helps pays the bills, and doesn't draw the others. She likes being ordinary, and optimistic, because no one will probably be. And that suits her just fine. ( more ) |

![]() rue | inhume @ plurk Nemesis, daughter of primordial Erebus and ancient Nyx, is now as she has ever been: the unwavering threat of punishment that mortal men should rightly fear. 'Indignation', some have called her; the goddess of vengeance and retribution; one who needs no balance for the simple fact that it is not her duty to reward the righteous. There are softer gods for that—gods who would sooner brand her an antagonist as opposed to a harbinger of justice—but she spares little time for the opinions of these whimsical and flighty peers. Mortals have grown complacent beneath their swollen cloud of arrogance, they've somehow managed to forget the gods, and it is Nemesis' noble burden to ensure that all is made right once more. ![]() amber | greyjoy @ plurk Pandora was the first woman, shaped from clay by the gods, given wickedness and beauty and wonder and grace. It was sheer curiosity at the sheer newness of the world and everything in it that lead to her opening the wrong jar and releasing evils into the world. She is a make up artist, a former beauty queen and an ordinary girl. Only she dreams; the same dream for years, of a handsome young man whose name or story she does know. Still, she seeks him. Despite representing the Democrats, his middle-of-the-road social policies and promises of change helped him become America's first black president, but now his first term is coming to a close, and the steps he's taking for his re-election may prove in some ways problematic. |

All is a blank before us. All waits undream'd of in that region, that inaccessible land. |
